Thursday October 10th
Stephen Piscotty started in right and hit 5th and James Ramsey was in center field and hit 6th for the Salt River Rafters. Piscotty had a rough night at the plate, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. His strikeouts came from his last two at-bats in the game. Ramsey had another solid game at the plate. After collecting 2 hits, including a 3-run home run, on Wednesday; Ramsey collected three more hits on Thursday. In Ramsey’s first at bat in the second, he singled and would later score. In the fourth inning he also singled and later in the 6th, he walked. In the 9th, Ramsey led off with a double to right, but would later get doubled off second as Christian Adames lined out to second.
Lee Stoppelman saw his first action on the mound this fall season. Stoppelman came in relief in the 8th inning and walked Oakland Athletics super-prospect Addison Russell to start the inning. Russell would later steal second base. Stoppelman would strike out the next batter. With one out, he faced Angels’ prospect C.J. Cron and walked him as well. With runners at first and second, Stoppelman induced a double play to get out of the inning.

Friday October 11th
On Friday, the Cardinals’ affiliate in the Arizona Fall League, the Salt River Rafters, had the prime time game in the afternoon. Stephen Piscotty started as the DH and hit 5th. Jacob Wilson got his first start at second base and hit 7th. In the sixth inning Piscotty doubled on a line drive to center for his only hit of the game. He would also strikeout two more times in the game. Jacob Wilson went hitless at the plate with a strikeout.
On the mound, Sam Gaviglio got the start for his first action of the fall season. In the first inning Gaviglio allowed a leadoff single and followed with a strikeout and a ground out which advanced the runner to third after a stolen base. With two outs, Gaviglio allowed a run scoring double and ended the inning with a fly out.
In the second, Gaviglio allowed a single to lead off the inning and then retired the next three hitters in order. The third was another scoreless inning for Gaviglio as he allowed a single but then induced a double play. After a walk, he got a ground out to end the inning. In his last inning, Gaviglio allowed a 2-run home run to Astros’ prospect Jonathan Meyer.
